's-Hertogenbosch is the official name of the city. In everyday language, used mostly Den Bosch. That means "the forest of the Duke." In 1185 the Duke granted town privileges and associated trading privileges. The oldest place in the heart of 's-Hertogenbosch is the triangular market. Within the city walls has s-Hertogenbosch largely retained its medieval structure. The late Gothic St. John's Cathedral, the classical city hall and the oldest brick house 'The Moor' recall bygone days. Like the many winding, staggered streets with warehouses and merchants' houses. Also located here is the Hieronymus Bosch Art Centre and the Noordbrabants Museum, with changing exhibitions.
The many guarded bicycle parking are free. The historic downtown is a beautiful backdrop for a day of shopping and consuming the unique Bossche Bol.
Boating on the Binnendieze (the collective name for the ancient system of all watercourses within the walls of 's-Hertogenbosch), which was dug between 1822 and 1826 is a unique experience. Discover through this tour on a characteristic open boat the beauty of 's-Hertogenbosch. You can sail from April to October.
